Welcome to
Darlington Voluntary & Community Sector Support Service

We’re delighted to be delivering an exciting initiative that is already making a difference for smaller voluntary and community groups across Darlington—helping them to establish, grow, and thrive at a grassroots level.

With £298,320 in funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, Tees Valley Community Asset Preservation Trust (TVCAPT) is running a 2.5-year pilot project focused on strengthening local community action.

Now underway, the initiative provides tailored support, resources, and opportunities for grassroots organisations, enabling them to build capacity, increase resilience, and make a lasting impact within their communities.

What We Do

This initiative is here to give smaller and emerging groups the tools and confidence they need to succeed:

Expert guidance to help new groups get started and existing ones grow.

Volunteer support—connecting people with meaningful opportunities and helping organisations recruit volunteers.

Funding advice and hands-on support with grant applications to unlock new opportunities.

Our work is dedicated to the smaller, grassroots groups that create real change in local communities.

Building Connections

We’re also creating a community support network, offering regular meetings and events where organisations can:

Collaborate on new ideas

Explore funding and partnership opportunities

Youth engagement is at the heart of our mission, too. We’re proud to support Darlington’s Local Youth Partnership, alongside YMCA, giving young people a stronger voice in their communities.

Did you know?We provide a room booking service for community centres and village halls, responding to phone and messenger enquiries seven days a week, so you don't have to rely on volunteers. The service is very cheap to buy and also includes business management support (we maintain your cashbook so the treasurer only needs to provide oversight), and we help you apply for grants, free of charge. The service more than pays for itself.
